About Kinderhof
Our mission is to bring generations together through family history.
Family history is often a quiet project for one person in the family. The rest of the family hears about it at holidays, if at all. Kinderhof is built to change that, so grandparents, parents and children can all take part, and so that the names in a family tree become people a child actually knows something about.
What Kinderhof is
- A website for a family to use together, with accounts for each person and a shared family space.
- Being built: a way to turn the ancestors in your tree into a family calendar of birthdays, anniversaries and remembrances.
- Being built: a set of five games, for different ages, made from your own ancestors rather than generic trivia.
- Careful with privacy: children do not need email addresses, your family decides who joins, and living people will be hidden from games and the calendar.
What Kinderhof is not
- It is not a place to research or discover new ancestors. Use a genealogy service for that, then bring your tree here.
- It is not a public tree or a social network. Your family's information is visible only to the people you invite.
- It does not sell your information, show advertising or share your tree with other families.
- It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by FamilySearch or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. FamilySearch is a trademark of its owner.
Where we are today
Accounts, sign-in by email link, and family management (inviting people, roles and child profiles) are available now. Uploading a GEDCOM file and browsing your family tree (its people and an ancestor chart) work now. The family calendar and the games are being built and are marked "coming soon" on this site. An optional FamilySearch connection is planned once approved.
